Passenger transport

Council contributes funds to a Passenger Transport Service that operates within the district. Environment Waikato are the service administrators. The New Zealand Transport Agency provides a subsidy on the operation of approved services. School bus runs are not part of this activity.

Council aims to support and encourage services where the community signals a need for them, where they will be supported by patronage, and where they can be provided at reasonable cost.

The management of service levels for the actual bus service lies with Environment Waikato.

The services currently supported include:

  • Hamilton to Huntly
  • Huntly internal
  • Meremere to Pukekohe
  • Raglan to Hamilton

Council also maintains and provides bus stops and some bus shelters for these services.
