Hello everyone
The Waikato District has a history to be proud of. Our cultural heritage is significant, which is why recent projects like the Puke-i-aahua Pa palisade project are close to our hearts.
Our natural features including beaches walkways, lakes and wetlands are there to be explored. Events like the annual Huntly Half Marathon, surfing competitions at Manu Bay and the racing at Huntly Speedway and Hampton Downs Motorsport Park continue to add vibrancy and variety for all who live in, and visit our district.
On a recent Sunday drive to Raglan I admired the landscaping work at the Wainui Reserve. This is now well-developed and certainly the foresight of the committee and the work of the Reserves Team is to be congratulated on the progress made here over the years.
Graffiti goes against all that is good in our district. It seems to me the quicker we deal with the problem the longer we will have more free space to enjoy. So I am pleased to see the work our Council team are doing to clean up the problem and I am grateful to all those who work hard to improve and protect our district.
Mayor Peter Harris
